Multicultural education at a primary school

The topic of the thesis is mapping the issue of multicultural education at primary schools. The main aim is to penetrate the current structures, to assess the possibilities of the teacher's work in the school environment and to find other ways of multicultural education of pupils in relation to the findings. The theoretical part of the thesis defines the legal environment of the issue at the level of the Czech Republic and the anchoring of multicultural education in curricular documents. It describes possible ways of thinking and approaches in contemporary intercultural education as well. It also includes the possibilities and principles of the educational process from the teacher's personality, his own competences, setting goals and content, appropriate forms and methods of work to the pupils and other factors influencing the lesson of multicultural education. Much of the work is devoted to the latest findings, trends and basic pillars and principles of quality intercultural education. Gypsies in our society in the kontext with the majority

The thesis deals with the relations between the Gypsies and the majority of companies. Briefly describes the history of Gypsies in the world and in our country, explores key points in history, when they first appear splits between the majority and the Gypsies minority. It also describes possible partial solution to this problem in multicultural education and awareness among the Roma and the majority society. There is mention of a key idea that a large part of the conflict between the two companies stems from a mutual lack of understanding of both cultures. The practical part deals with the attitudes and relationships of the majority of the Roma, which is directly experienced in every day life.

The role of preschool education by working with children from socioculturally disadvantaged environment

This thesis clarifies the role that preschool education plays in the successful inclusion of culturally disadvantaged children into mainstream education. The theoretical part characterizes the conditions of present preschool education with regard to the specifics of families from socially and culturally disadvantaged backgrounds. The research part is aimed at identifying the views and attitudes of parents and teaching staff on the issue and monitoring the progress in the development of children during the educational process in kindergarten.
Racial predjudices and stereotypes in education

This diploma thesis focuses on the topic of prejudices and stereotypes in education. The theoretical part deals with origin and spread of prejudices and stereotypes, practical examples of these terms and also possible forms of prevention in education. The last chapter, following the practical part, addresses the role of a teacher as a personality as well as a member of pedagogical staff when working with these phenomena. The practical part, containing in-depth interviews, focuses on concrete opinions of teachers as personalities with their own experiences as well as members of pedagogical staff, which are pivotal to development of students' moral values. I concentrate on their personal attitudes and consequent work with these attitudes in teaching. Multicultural education in the Czech Republic

This bachelor's thesis discusses the issue of multicultural education in the Czech Republic. The first, theoretical part defines its concept and causes as well as it explains the objectives and methods of its implementation. The following part explores the situation in the country. Here, the number of foreigners in our country and their representation in various types of schools are examined. Also the target groups, intentional and unintentional nature of education and certain forms of support are defined. The next section deals with projects aimed at reducing prejudices and stereotypes and at promoting mutual tolerance between different groups. Big part of the thesis pays attention to presenting a real example of a multicultural education project called EDISON run by AIESEC, a non-profit student organization. The project functioning, program, organization, benefits and its future are closely described. In the final part, an ideal form of a multicultural education project will be suggested based on the information presented in this thesis.
